Are there other students like me so I will feel comfortable?
Many students have come from similar backgrounds to pursue a career in child care. Many students are current secondary school student or have recently left. While those in the child care industry are studying to receiving higher career positions through additional qualifications.

Will it be easy to make friends?
Based at the Easy T Centre Robina, there are many shops, cafes and Contours Gymnasium. The social, friendly environment of the Easy T Centre encourages all staff and students to mix.

What are the Teachers’ qualifications and experience?
All trainers at the Australian College of Early Childhood Education have a minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience with related academic qualifications. All trainers have been screened by the Commission for Children and Young People and issued with a Blue Card.

Is the Australian College of Early Childhood Educations credible? Are they Government accredited?
The Australian College of Early Childhood Education is Government accredited. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), the Australian College of Early Childhood Education has agreed to operate within the principles and standards of the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) by delivering all courses that are approved within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).  This nationally recognised courses delivered by Australian College of Early Childhood Education are nationally recognised

What about car parking?
The Easy T Centre has public car parking that has lighting and security. Parking facilities surround the College.

What are your college entry requirements?
Satisfactory completion of an appropriate Year 10 or its equivalent or mature age. Students must demonstrate an interest in, and suitability for work in the children’s services field with the ability to be responsible
for the care of children. Applicants must also possess the study skills to complete the formal study program, the physical, mental
and emotional health to interact positively with children and parents..

Am I eligible?
Prior to enrolment consider contacting the student support officer to discuss your personal preferences for training outcomes. (Training Needs Analysis)

Your call will assist in matching your preferences to entry and exit points in a qualification in line with your career objectives.

Also refer to course prerequisites and entry requirements of each individual course in the courses section.

Is what I already know taken into account?
Yes. Your history of study, skills and experience does matter. Consideration is given to your life and work experiences as well as formal and informal training. This may be applied using the national standard for Mutual Recognition (RCC) or through Recognition of Prior learning (RPL).

What’s an academic transcript?
An academic transcript is a list of all the units of study you have competently completed. This is legal evidence that you have completed the units as listed and can be used to gain exemptions for further study at other private RTO’s or TAFE’s nationally.  A general print out of units completed is not legally binding and can’t be accepted as evidence of having successfully completed specific units.

The weekly positions vacant section of the news paper regularly advertises for child care positions with not enough applicants to fill these positions. Positions advertised for child care staff far exceeds any other positions advertised in the Educational Section of the newspaper.

What is the program structure?
To better understand the course structure, visit the course information area to receive information on course outlines, entry requirements, dates and course content.

What is Field Placement?
Part of the course requires that students be in the work place environment. The Certificate III requires 160 hours while the Diploma requires a total of 200 hours of workplace training and assessment. For Advanced Diploma domestic students there is no field placement required just theory.

Is Field Placement part of the course?
The field placement is part of the course and must be competently completed. Students are trained to a standard that is required by industry and related stakeholders in the child care industry. (Community Services Training Package)

How long will the training take?
Depending of the level of qualification and delivery of course, a single unit takes on average one month. The entire course usually takes a 1 year period with the set maximum being 2 years. Students can complete the course as soon as they like but the maximum time set is 2 years.

As the course is also delivered via a flexible learning and assessment program. Students vary on course completion times and is dependent on student work and family commitments. There is no minumum time requirement to complete the course.

What qualifications do you award?
CHC30402 Certificate III in Children’s Service
CHC50202 Certificate IV of Out of School Hours Care
CHC50302 Diploma of Children’s Services
CHC60202 Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services

Where are these qualifications recognised?
As a registered training organisation (RTO) qualifications issued by the Australian College of Early Childhood Education are recognised nationally. The College meets State and Government Nationally Recognided Training Standards.

If I only complete some of the course, can I receive exemptions elsewhere?
The units of competency you have completed are recognised nationally and on completion do not have to be repeated. When continuing further studies at any TAFE or private RTO nationally, they will give you exemptions (mutual recognition) for units you have completed. This is recorded on your academic transcript.

How hard are the courses?
The courses are not difficult and experienced trainers are there too support you with your studies. The courses are based nationally endorsed training packages that set standards inline with industry standards. The training packages describe the skills and knowledge that individuals need to perform effectively in the workplace. It is the trainers’ task to deliver these packages in an easy to understand format. This is achieved by class room activities, field placements and assessments and a supporting group environment.

What is a beginner’s level course?
The Certificate III in Children’s services is the beginner’s level course. After it completion, job positions include child care assistant, family day carer, nanny, out of school hours care assistant *, recreation assistant, unqualified child care worker

* Depending on jurisdiction. Some jurisdictions require CHC40402 Certificate IV in Out of School Hours Care

When can I start? /How do I apply?
Contact the Student Service Centre to arrange for an enrolment interview with a Children’s Services teacher who will develop a study plan prior to enrolment. You can also choose to visit our Training Needs Analysis (TNA) on to accurately address your study needs and objectives.
